Research: Scientists & Scientific Theories in Fuller's Corpus
Fuller's thought is anchored not in the classical experimentalists (Faraday, Coulomb, Mendeleev are essentially absent) but in the physics of energy and the cosmos: Einstein and relativity, the thermodynamics of entropy (Boltzmann, Gibbs, Planck), the quantum, Avogadro's constant, and Newton — the last mostly as the foil he overturns. Science for Fuller is not citation; it is the operating system. He claims to design "by the generalized principles of physics and chemistry," and his signature moves — energetic geometry, the entropy/syntropy pairing, "Einstein's verb" — are attempts to fold those sciences into a single experiential coordinate system.
[!note] Interpretive survey This is a reading of how the sciences function in Fuller's thinking, not a concordance. Counts below are grep-located across the whole repo (books by and about Fuller, the Synergetics Dictionary, the wiki). They locate passages; the synthesis comes from reading them.
Method
- Corpus: all repo book content (by + about Fuller), the Synergetics Dictionary (~20K cards), and
.wiki/articles. - Located via case-insensitive search for scientists (Einstein, Newton, Galileo, Kepler, Gibbs, Boltzmann, Planck, Heisenberg, Avogadro, Darwin, …) and theory terms (relativity, thermodynamics, entropy, quantum, periodic table, …), then read in context.

How science anchors Fuller's thinking
Einstein is the keystone. In Nine Chains to the Moon (1938) Fuller frames relativity as the great rupture: "Einstein announced his theory of relativity… the first new thought of cosmic calibre to emerge since the 200 B.C. termination of the scientist-philosophers." He reads relativity as a concept of LIFE as TIME itself — Universe as all-motion, no static frame. This becomes his lifelong stance: Newton names a "noun" universe of instantaneous, at-rest bodies; Einstein names a "verb" universe of motion — the same intuition behind Fuller's own "I seem to be a verb." E = mc² is one of the most heavily cross-referenced equations in Synergetics (32+ section references), where he tries to reconcile it with his whole-number, 60-degree energetic geometry.
Thermodynamics supplies his metaphysics. Fuller's most load-bearing scientific borrowing is entropy, which he pairs with his coinage syntropy (Synergetics §1052.50): "Life is antientropic… mind-appreciated syntropy evolves to anticipatorily terminate" disorder. The statistical mechanics behind it — Boltzmann, Gibbs (the phase rule), Planck (the quantum) — recurs constantly; he treats local life and mind as the universe's anti-entropic, energy-marshalling function. This is the scientific root of his optimism (ephemeralization as doing more with less is an anti-entropy claim).
Chemistry gives him accounting. Fuller builds an "Avogadro's Constant Energy Accounting" (Synergetics §986.120) and leans on the periodic table / closest-packing of the elements to argue that nature's structuring is rational and whole-number — that synergetics recovers the geometry the chemists' lattices already obey.
The quantum and Heisenberg he embraces rather than resists: the observer is part of the system, measurement is participation — congenial to his "Universe = the aggregate of all experiences." Galileo and Kepler appear as the heroes of experiential, measured science; Darwin/evolution he engages mostly to contest Malthus and to recast survival as a design problem.
Notably absent: the classical electrical experimentalists (Faraday, Coulomb, Ampère) and Mendeleev by name — Fuller reaches for the cosmological and energetic physicists, not the bench tradition.

Notes
- Counts are file-hit counts across a curated term list, heavily weighted by the Synergetics Dictionary's many cards; they show emphasis, not exhaustive disambiguation. Some "Newton"/"Darwin" hits are incidental (place names, the about-books).
- The whole-repo corpus mixes Fuller's voice with biographers'/editors'; evidence is tagged [BY] vs [ABOUT].
- OCR'd scans carry noise;
E = mc²renders variously.
