Barry M. Katz

Barry M. Katz is a design and innovation historian who teaches in the Department of Industrial Design and the Graduate Program in Design at California College of the Arts. He has served as an editor at Design Book Review and as a contributing editor for I.D. magazine and Metropolis. His books include Herbert Marcuse and the Art of Liberation (1982), Foreign Intelligence: Research and Analysis in the Office of Strategic Services, 1942-1949 (1989), and Technology and Culture: A Historical Romance (1990). His research spans the history of Silicon Valley design and the broader intersections of technology, culture, and innovation.

Relationship to Fuller

Relationship: chronicler. Katz contributed the essay "1927, Bucky's Annus Mirabilis" to New Views on R. Buckminster Fuller. The essay takes readers back to the year when, according to R. Buckminster Fuller's own account, he experienced a great epiphany and resolved to dedicate the rest of his life to the betterment of humanity.
