Amei Wallach

Amei Wallach is an American art critic and writer long known for her criticism of modern and contemporary art, and later for documentary films on artists. Working across newspapers, magazines, and film, she has specialized in narrating how works of art come into being and the people behind them.

Relationship to Fuller

Relationship: chronicler. Wallach wrote the Introduction to R. Buckminster Fuller's Tetrascroll, his "cosmic fairy tale" retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as a vehicle for synergetics. Her introduction recounts the making of the book — the improbable collaboration begun in the spring of 1975 between Fuller, then nearing eighty, and the master lithography publisher Tatyana Grosman of ULAE, which produced the monumental artist's book. In chronicling that partnership she frames Fuller's project for the reader and preserves the story of how the work was realized.
