Cosanti Foundation
The Cosanti Foundation, the nonprofit established by architect Paolo Soleri to advance arcology (architecture + ecology) and to build Arcosanti, his experimental town in the Arizona desert.
Founded in 1965, the Cosanti Foundation runs Arcosanti as a decades-long demonstration of compact, resource-frugal urban form — dense, three-dimensional settlement designed to reduce the land, energy, and time wasted by sprawl. It sustains Soleri's arcology program through workshops and the sale of its signature bronze and ceramic "Soleri bells."
Role in Fuller's world
Cosanti / Arcosanti is a kindred institution to Fuller's comprehensive design: like Fuller's domed-city and Spaceship-Earth thinking, Soleri's arcology pursues radically efficient human settlement — a parallel, hand-built pursuit of doing more with less at city scale.
