David Johnston (builder)
American green-building consultant, president of What's Working, a Boulder, Colorado firm specializing in environmental construction technology; for over 25 years an advocate for making the building industry "greener."
Johnston is credited with helping commercialize passive-solar technology and integrate it into mainstream residential building, largely through work with industry trade organizations. His books and consulting focus on practical paths to sustainable construction for ordinary homes and builders.
Role in Fuller's orbit
Johnston works in the applied-sustainability tradition that traces back to Fuller's insistence on doing more with less in shelter — the same lineage as the passive-solar and owner-builder movements. His link to Fuller is thematic; no work currently in the corpus references him directly.
