Martin Meyerson

American city planner and higher-education leader (1922–2007), president of the University of Pennsylvania.

Martin Meyerson was an American urban planner and academic administrator whose career spanned several of the country's major universities. Trained in city and regional planning, he taught and led programs in urban design, served as acting chancellor at the University of California, Berkeley, and as president of the State University of New York at Buffalo, before becoming president of the University of Pennsylvania (1970–1981), where he later held an emeritus role.

Relationship to Fuller

Relationship: contemporary. Meyerson presided over the University of Pennsylvania during the years R. Buckminster Fuller was affiliated with the institution as University Professor, so his administration was the academic home under which Fuller taught and lectured at Penn. Beyond that institutional tie, Meyerson was among the many friends and admirers who contributed to Synergetic Stew, the collection of recipes and reminiscences gathered in tribute to Fuller and his household.
