Yehudi Menuhin

American-born British violinist and conductor (1916-1999), one of the twentieth century's foremost musicians.

Yehudi Menuhin was a violin prodigy who rose to international fame as a young performer and went on to a long career as both soloist and conductor. Beyond the concert hall he was known as a humanitarian and a champion of cross-cultural exchange, and he became a naturalized British citizen and was later honored with a life peerage. He founded the Yehudi Menuhin School and remained an influential public figure in music and the arts until his death.

Relationship to Fuller

Relationship: friend. Menuhin was among the admirers of R. Buckminster Fuller who contributed to Synergetic Stew: Explorations in Dymaxion Dining, the tribute cookbook assembled for Fuller's 86th birthday. The volume gathered recipes and remembrances from friends and admirers as an affectionate salute to Fuller, and Menuhin's participation places him within the circle of cultural figures who paid tribute to Fuller near the end of his life.
