Peter Jon Pearce

American product designer, author, and inventor (born 1936), known for modular structural systems such as the Curved Space Diamond Structure and for the influential book Structure in Nature Is a Strategy for Design.

Pearce built a career translating natural geometric principles into buildable modular systems — space frames, climbing sculptures, and building components — including the widely installed Curved Space Diamond Structure and the Steelcase Cachet Chair. His work treats the geometry of nature as a design toolkit, exactly the program Fuller championed.

Role in Fuller's orbit

Pearce was a Fuller associate who worked at the intersection of synergetic geometry and manufacturable structure. He is among the designers who took Fuller's polyhedral and space-frame geometry from principle to product, extending the synergetics tradition into industrial design.
