3At its first conception, this book appeared to be a fairly simple, straightforward project: collect, edit, and publish the educational thought of R. Buckminster Fuller. But, of course, everything is more complex than it seems, and such was the case with the development of this book. A large number of people were crucial to its completion, and while we can't thank them all, some of them must be mentioned.

4 We would, first, like to thank Leone Stein, whose steady interest and support made it all happen. We are also indebted to Bruce McCandless, whose help in securing us a small grant from the University of Massachusetts Graduate School made the selection, editing, transcribing, and typing of the material possible.
